Trend Alert: Statement Collars

Statement collars or embellished collars are popping up in stores everywhere.  You can see an example of this trend here but you have to scroll down a little bit through the post.  I haven’t bought anything with a statement collar, yet.  I’m thinking about it, though!  Embellished collars that stand out are what you want. This can range from studded collars to sequined collars.  You can also buy fancy collars by themselves to add drama to a plain shirt!

This would be a really easy DIY (Do It Yourself) project!  If you’ve got an old shirt with great collars, this is a fantastic way to give it new life!  Just purchase some studs, feathers, pearls, sequins, gems or all of these!  You can glue them or sew them on the collar in a reasonable amount of time.  You can also use old earrings!  You can usually buy bags of vintage earrings for cheap at thrift stores and vintage shops.  Just poke the earrings through the collar in a pattern that you like and you’ve got instant embellished collars!  Click here for an example on how to put something together yourself.

If putting something together yourself sounds like too much work, here are some budget friendly ways you can add this trend to your wardrobe.  Happy shopping!

It would look awful on me, but I love the last collar! So dramatic! But may I suggest Lands’ End no-iron blouses if you’re going for a simple white blouse with studs, etc. They have a great, sturdy collar, and they last forever.

I love them because they make you just in a cute way different than someonelse but they don’t have to be too tight on your neck !
