Wardrobe Essentials: Investment Bag

What are the classic items that you can add to your wardrobe that will never go out of style?  What are timeless pieces that add style and class after fashion fades?  That’s right…it’s time to talk about another essential piece you should add to your wardrobe.  The investment bag.

My investment bag.

Some of you may already own a much nicer investment bag than mine.  Some of you may be saving up for an investment bag.  Some of you might not even be thinking about an investment bag.  Investment bags are a little expensive, which is what makes them an investment.  HOWEVER, that doesn’t mean they have to be unaffordable.  I didn’t go to the Prada store and pay the full retail price.  I went to the Prada outlet store and paid half the retail price.  Life’s too short to pay full price!

The wonderful thing about this purse is that I will get tired of it LONG before it actually wears out.  And because it will still look good when I’m done with it, I can sell it and use the money to buy a new investment bag!  There is nothing wrong with buying a $20 purse from a store but more than likely the purse is going to break before you get tired of it and your only option at that point is to throw it in the trash.  With outlet stores popping up all over the place, it’s much easier to buy designer purses at reasonable prices.  If you pay $300 for a purse that you wear for 6 years, you really paid $50 per year for that purse.  If you sell the purse after 6 years, you’ve paid even less.  You can pay $300 for a beautiful designer purse that will stay looking great (if you take care of it) OR you can pay $50 each year for a purse that the straps will break on and the material will start to fray or the zipper breaks.

Here are some less expensive options for investment bags.  Who is your favorite designer for an investment bag????  Let me know!

Fabulous Friday!

It’s almost time to start decorating pumpkins!

It’s the first week of September and you know what that means.  FALL and WINTER time!!!!  It’s time to start looking at what the big trends are going to be for the fall and winter season.  I’ll be exploring these trends more in depth in my Trend Alerts but I wanted to give you an overview of what to expect.

This season, you’ll see very large coats.  This was a big trend in the 80’s and it’s back with a modern twist.  I’m talking coats that almost drown you.

Rich patterns and fabrics with a vintage feel are going to be huge.  Maybe due in part to Downtown Abbey??  You’ll also see head to toe print.  Prints are going to be HUGE this season.  I actually LOVE this trend and will be taking full advantage of it!

You can also expect to see lots of leather!  Even head to toe leather!  This ties in to The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and The Dark Knight Rises.  Everything I’ve seen about this season says pick a style and take it to the extreme.

I also noticed a lot of military inspired fashion.  I got a World War II feel from the fashions I was seeing and wonder if this is due to Captain America?  Check it out and see if you agree with me.

So, what do you think about the upcoming fashion for this season?  What’s your favorite?  I want to hear from you!
