Wardrobe Essentials: The Trench Coat

What are the classic items that you can add to your wardrobe that will never go out of style?  What are timeless pieces that add style and class after fashion fades?  That’s right…it’s time to talk about another essential piece you should add to your wardrobe.  The classic trench.

A trench coat is instant class.  Just throw it on and you look elegant and intriguing with about 5 seconds worth of work!  Who doesn’t love the sound of that?!  Trench coats are very affordable with great deals on a variety of styles.  However, if you think you would wear a trench coat for several years, it might be worth it for you to invest some money into a quality piece.  While the affordable trench coats are great, you really get a lot more quality the more money you spend.  Remember, if you spend $200 on a coat and wear it for five years, you only spent $40 each year!

The weather is right for trench coats so I’ve found you some excellent deals and a few investment pieces.  Stay warm and look fabulous this season!

Wardrobe Essentials: Peacoat

What are the classic items that you can add to your wardrobe that will never go out of style?  What are timeless pieces that add style and class after fashion fades?  That’s right…it’s time to talk about another essential piece you should add to your wardrobe.  The peacoat.

What exactly makes a peacoat a peacoat?  A peacoat has a double-breasted front, usually with large lapels.  It was originally worn by sailors and eventually found its way into the world of fashion.  References to the peacoat can be found as far back as the 1700’s.

This is a perfect time to talk about cooler weather, especially since I woke up to 40 degree temperatures this morning!  BRRRRR!  The style of the coat has evolved over the years but it always remains a classic piece you can count on seeing every season.  It’s a favorite of many celebrities and designers.  If you’ve never owned a peacoat before, maybe you’ll consider adding one of these to your wardrobe!  Happy Monday!

Fabulous Friday!

It’s almost time to start decorating pumpkins!

It’s the first week of September and you know what that means.  FALL and WINTER time!!!!  It’s time to start looking at what the big trends are going to be for the fall and winter season.  I’ll be exploring these trends more in depth in my Trend Alerts but I wanted to give you an overview of what to expect.

This season, you’ll see very large coats.  This was a big trend in the 80’s and it’s back with a modern twist.  I’m talking coats that almost drown you.

Balenciaga

Rich patterns and fabrics with a vintage feel are going to be huge.  Maybe due in part to Downtown Abbey??  You’ll also see head to toe print.  Prints are going to be HUGE this season.  I actually LOVE this trend and will be taking full advantage of it!

Ferragamo

You can also expect to see lots of leather!  Even head to toe leather!  This ties in to The Girl With A Dragon Tattoo and The Dark Knight Rises.  Everything I’ve seen about this season says pick a style and take it to the extreme.

Givenchy

I also noticed a lot of military inspired fashion.  I got a World War II feel from the fashions I was seeing and wonder if this is due to Captain America?  Check it out and see if you agree with me.

Ferragamo

So, what do you think about the upcoming fashion for this season?  What’s your favorite?  I want to hear from you!
