If you have a smartphone, you should put it to work helping you find deals all year round.  Let’s take a look at some of my favorite apps that make shopping easier.  Let me know if you give any of these of a try or if you already have one of these!

1. GeoQpons-available for Iphone, Android and Blackberry-this app gets you coupons for almost every retailer you shop at.  When you’re at the store, just pull up this app and check for coupons or deals.
2. RedLaser -available for the Iphone, Android and Windows-with this app, you can scan the barcode of an item at the store and compare prices to make sure you’re getting the best deal.
3. Slice-available for Iphone and Android-this app allows you to track your online orders and receipts.  It also keeps track of how much you’ve spent on each person for the holidays!  This is the ultimate planning tool in one app!
4. CardStar-available for IPhone, Android, Windows, Blackberry and Nokia-this app lets you take all your loyalty cards and consolidate them.  No more digging through your purse for that card!  Just pull up the app, find the card you want and it can be scanned right from your phone!
5. Gift Plan for Iphone allows you to store a list of friends and family along with their sizes and ideas for gifts.

Black Friday Deals!!!!

If you don’t know what Black Friday is, let me give you a brief summary.  Crazy people (like myself) go shopping all night long on Thanksgiving night to snag deals.  People will actually sit in a line outside of their favorite store waiting for it to open.  I’ve never done this but my husband and sister did last year.  To my friends overseas, do they have Black Friday where you are?

Some people don’t like to participate in Black Friday because the crowds are so large.  There have actually been instances of people being trampled to death.  I’ve been fortunate in that every time I’ve gone shopping, people have behaved themselves.  Yes, there were big crowds but they didn’t try to knock me down and everyone was very polite.  I’ve found Target to be the friendliest place to shop at.  They had great organization and lots of employees offering to help you.

I LOVE the holidays!  For those of us that celebrate it, Thanksgiving is fast approaching.  Actually, it’s approaching a little too fast.  I’m having my entire family over to my house…which is still full of boxes!  Thankfully, God invented closets where we can hide things so our home looks fabulous and no one knows our secret.  Unless they happen to open a closet door.  I have some great deals for you today but first, I have a quick and easy recipe you can use for Thanksgiving or any occasion!  Hope you enjoy it and the deals I found for you today!  Make it a magnificent day!

Two Ingredient Pumpkin Cake

Recipe makes 1 – 9×13 inch cake

• 1 package spice cake mix
• 1 (15 ounce) can pumpkin

Directions

1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Generously grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
2. In a large bowl, mix together the spice cake mix and canned pumpkin until well blended. Spread evenly into the prepared pan.
3. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes in the preheated oven, or until a knife inserted into the center comes out clean. Cool and serve, or store in the refrigerator. This tastes even better the next day.
4. I heard you might want to add a little water to this as the cake can be very dense.

Email sale alerts and “rewards” programs.  Do they really work?  Is there really any benefit or are they just a hassle?  I say yes, they really do work.

Yes, you take a chance every time you give out your email address to a company.  A lot of people I know have an email address they’ve created especially to use for promotions.  I just use the same email address for everything and send the spam items to the junk mail folder.  I really don’t get that much spam.  Here are just a few examples of deals I’ve gotten recently:

Columbus Day sales at my local outlet mall

I joined the rewards program for Carino’s Italian Restaurants and recently got appetizer and meals for two for only $10!  I’m also a member of Qdoba rewards program and have received several free meals!  This is definitely worth my time.

Happy Friday Eve!  Labor Day is this Monday so I get an extra day off from work!  I LOVE three day weekends!  I LOVE holidays!  What will I do with all that spare time?  Shopping, of course!  I won’t have time for much shopping but there’s a resale shop not too far from me that’s having a big sale.  For $5, you get a bag full of all the clothes you can stuff into it.  Sounds like a pretty good deal to me!

What are the classic items that you can add to your wardrobe that will never go out of style?  What are timeless pieces that add style and class after fashion fades?  That’s right…it’s time to talk about another essential piece you should add to your wardrobe.  Pearls.

Nothing says elegance like pearls.  I think pearls are just like women, simple and complicated at the same time!  You can think Kokichi Mikimoto for starting the pearl industry with the founding of his company, Mikimoto.  Mikimoto pearls are recognized as some of the best in the world.  Of course, if you want the best, you have to pay for it.

There are Akoya pearls which are the typical white pearls that have a high shine to them.  Freshwater pearls are the pearls that have the funny shape to them instead of being round.  They’re usually the least expensive pearls but recently, some beautiful round freshwater pearls have been introduced.  Tahitian pearls are the only pearls that have a natural black body color.  South Sea pearls are the most expensive because they’re really big and very rare.  Most imitation pearls are glass beads painted to look like pearls.  Honestly, all of them are beautiful and you should feel proud owning any of them.  Just remember that pearls are very delicate and should be the last thing you put on before you walk out the door and first thing you take off when you get home.

Are you feeling vibrant?  Are you feeling bold?  You will be when you add a pop of tangerine to your wardrobe!  Tangerine is another color that is hitting fashion in a big way.  Tangerine is basically coral with more of an orange tone than a pink tone.  If you’re not sure about this color, try adding a tangerine belt, tangerine purse  or tangerine bracelet.  Even a small pop of color goes a long way to add interest to an outfit.  Tangerine goes well with green, navy blue, brown, hot pink and denim.  Again, just pull your clothes out and experiment.  Check out these spectacular tangerine bargains:
